SEO finding
The structured data describes reviews or questions that are not on the page
SEO Warning Severity: Medium
Part of the audit Structured data says something the page does not. Finding id: seo.structuredMarkupNotOnPage.
What it costs you
Structured data is meant to describe what a visitor can see. Search engines can withhold the rich result for markup that describes content the page does not show.
What to do
Show the content on the page, or remove it from the markup.
What it checks
- Review data but no reviews on the page
- Question data not shown on the page
How to fix it
Show it or remove it
- Open [page url] and look for the question or the reviews the markup describes.
- If the content should be there, add it to the visible page with the same wording.
- If it was removed or never shown, delete that item from the structured data.
How to check: Run this rule again on the pages of the template.
A real case
A site owner who received Google's manual action for spammy structured markup lost traffic, removed all schema from the site, and still had five reconsideration requests rejected.
How to verify by hand
Merchant feed and Search Console rich-result or merchant warnings for the same URL.
What this relies on
The visible value is current; the markup is generated from a stale field or a different variant.
