One language version mixes the spellings of two regions
QA Info Severity: Low
Part of the audit The site spells its own names in several ways. Finding id: qa.mixedRegionalSpelling.
What it costs you
'Colour' on one page and 'color' on the next looks unedited. Readers notice it sooner than a typo because the word comes back.
What to do
Choose one regional variant for the language version, declare it in the lang attribute, and replace the other spellings.
What it checks
- Mixed regional spelling in one language
How to fix it
Choose one variant and declare it
- Take the variant from the style guide. Without one, take the variant used most.
- Declare it on the pages: lang="en-GB" and not lang="en". From then on qa.wrongRegionalVariant lists each word that does not fit.
- Replace the other spellings on the pages listed.
How to check: Crawl the site again. The language has one variant left in this rule.
