SEO finding
Pages that get clicks from search are missing from every sitemap
SEO Warning Severity: Medium
Part of the audit XML sitemaps. Finding id: seo.searchTrafficNotInSitemap.
What it costs you
The sitemap is how you tell search engines which pages matter. Pages that bring visitors but are left out are found only through links, and after a change of URLs they can drop out of results unnoticed.
What to do
Add these pages to the sitemap, or find out why the sitemap generator leaves them out: often a whole section or page type is missing.
What it checks
- Pages with visitors missing from sitemap
How to fix it
Bring the sitemap in line with the pages that rank
- Export the list of pages from this finding and look for what they share: a folder, a page type, a language.
- Fix the sitemap generator for that group, or add the pages by hand if there are few.
- Submit the sitemap again in Search Console.
How to check: Recrawl the site: the pages are listed in a sitemap.
