Part of the audit Competitor comparison. Finding id: seo.competitorGap.
What it costs you
Searches in your market go to the competitor.
What to do
Decide which of these searches you want.
What it checks
- Keywords competitors rank for and you do not
- Search visibility trend against competitors
How to fix it
See what the competitor changed
- List the pages of [group key] that gained positions in the period.
- Note what is new: pages, sections, or links from other sites.
- Decide whether any of it is a subject you should cover too.
How to check: Compare the visibility of both sites again after the next period.
Close the gaps that matter
- Sort the gap keywords by search volume and by how close they are to what you sell.
- For each one you want, find your best page for it. If there is none, plan one.
- Read the competitor's ranking page and note what it answers that yours does not.
How to check: Follow your position for the keyword over the next checks.
