QA Warning Severity: Low
Part of the audit Spelling. Finding id: qa.repeatedWords.
What it costs you
A doubled word is a small slip, but readers see it at once and take it as a sign the page was not proofread.
What to do
Delete the second word. If the repeat is a name or is meant, dismiss the finding.
What it checks
- Word repeated twice in a row
How to fix it
Delete the second word
- Find the place on the page with the selector and the context in the evidence.
- Delete one of the two words.
- If the pages share a template_id, the text is in the template.
How to check: Recheck one of the pages: the word is gone from this finding.
A real case
Charles Duncombe, who ran several UK online shops, told the BBC in 2011 that fixing a single spelling mistake on one of his sites made its sales double. It was one test on one site.
