QA finding
A markup error changes how the page is built or read
QA Warning Severity: Medium
Part of the audit Markup validity. Finding id: qa.markupParseErrors.
What it costs you
The page can look right and still be wrong underneath: a form field without its label, a link that jumps to the wrong place, styles applied to the wrong block. Screen readers read the repaired structure, not the intended one.
What to do
Correct the markup at the line given. If the pages share a template_id, correct the template.
What it checks
- Code errors that change the page structure
- Same ID used more than once
- Page elements left unclosed
How to fix it
Correct the markup at its source
- Open the page source at the line in the evidence and compare it with the snippet.
- For a duplicate id, give each element its own id and update the label, ARIA attribute or link that points at it.
- For an unclosed or misplaced element, add the missing end tag or move the element to where it is allowed.
- If the markup comes from a template or component, change it there so every page is corrected at once.
How to check: Recheck the page: the error is no longer listed.
