QA finding

Language versions of a page have drifted apart

QA Warning Severity: Medium

Part of the audit Translations that drifted apart. Finding id: qa.languageVersionsDrift.

What it costs you

Visitors in one language get older or less information than the others, and nobody on the team sees it because each person reads one language.

What to do

Compare the two versions side by side and bring the older one up to date.

What it checks

  • Sections missing in one language
  • Numbers or prices differ between languages
  • Links lead to another language
  • One language updated much later
  • Linked page exists in one language only

How to fix it

Bring the versions back in line

  1. Open both URLs next to each other. Start with the headings: a missing section is the quickest to see.
  2. Check the numbers named in the finding in both versions.
  3. For a link into another language, point it at the version in the language of the page it is on. If there is none, say in the link text which language the target is in.

How to check: Crawl the site again. The pair no longer appears in this rule.
