QA finding
Pages with visits that the crawl cannot reach or that return an error
QA Warning Severity: Medium
Part of the audit Analytics and the crawl see different sites. Finding id: qa.analyticsVsCrawl.
What it costs you
Visitors arrive on a page nobody maintains because it is in no menu. Audits that only follow links never look at it.
What to do
Link the page from the section it belongs to, or retire it with a redirect.
What it checks
- Visited page not reachable by links
- Visited page now returns an error
How to fix it
Restore or redirect the page
- Open the URL and confirm the error.
- If the content still exists, publish it again at this address.
- If it moved or was replaced, add a permanent redirect to the new address.
How to check: Request the URL: it answers 200 or redirects to the replacement.
Link or retire the page
- Open the URL and decide whether the page should exist.
- If yes, link it from its section. If it is a campaign page that stands alone on purpose, add it to the crawl's start list so later audits include it.
- If no, redirect it to the page that replaces it.
How to check: Crawl the site again. The URL no longer appears in this rule.
Thresholds
| Name | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
min_sessions | 10 | Pages with fewer sessions in 90 days than this are not returned. |
How to verify by hand
Analytics landing pages and Search Console pages.
What this relies on
A page with visits exists and matters, even when no link leads to it.
