Privacy finding
A privacy claim on the site is contradicted by what the pages do
Privacy Error Severity: High
Part of the audit Privacy claims on the page that the page itself disproves. Finding id: privacy.claimsVsBehaviour.
What it costs you
A privacy claim is a statement in writing. Anyone can open the browser's network panel and compare it with what the page does.
What to do
Change the setup so the claim is true again, or change the claim.
What it checks
- Cookieless claim but identifiers set
- No tracking claim but trackers present
- Data stays in region claim but calls elsewhere
How to fix it
Make the claim true or reword it
- Find when the claim was written and which tool was added since.
- Remove that tool, or set it up so it does what the claim says.
- If the tool stays as it is, reword the claim to what the site does now.
How to check: Crawl the site again. The claim no longer appears in this rule.
A real case
A company promised its users it would never share their health information. Tracking pixels on the same site sent it to advertising platforms, and the regulator called the promise deceptive.
